Waymo

The only company running driverless taxis at commercial scale anywhere outside China. Waymo's defining choice is redundancy over cost: expensive sensing, pre-built maps and a remote-assistance layer, which is why it clears half a million paid rides a week while competitors count theirs in thousands. Its reported safety record — 82% fewer injury crashes than a human benchmark over 271 million miles — is the industry's main political asset.
